Following a standout debut in 2025, Higher Love Festival returns to the sun-soaked shores of Malta for its second edition with a heavyweight Phase 1 lineup for 2026. Running from 29 April to 4 May, the festival once again takes over multiple stunning locations across the island and mixes up world-class electronic music with sunrise-to-starlight dancing, glistening coastlines, next level food and a like-minded crowd.

Curated by Sammy Porter alongside the team behind leading promoters LoveJuice, Higher Love is an all-encompassing European festival experience – think pool parties under blazing sun, open-air shows by the sea, boat parties with beats rolling across the water and secret afterparties that stretch long into the night.

Phase 1 lineup highlights include fresh tech house from new school tastemakers such as Josh Baker, Prospa, Eliza Rose, Fleur Shore, Girls Don’t Sync, Kolter, Lee Foss, Sidney Charles, Riordan, Wheats, Julian Fijma, Paige Tomlinson, Obskür and a special live show from Oden & Fatzo with five headliners still to be revealed in Phase 2.

The week closes in style with an unmissable Closing Party at Boat Club, Café Del Mar, featuring G Chase, Harty, Mazos, Mike Younger, O’Neil McDowall and Sonny Kane.

Higher Love also brings a stacked schedule of stage takeovers from cutting-edge brands including 23 Degrees, After Caposile, Appetite, Binary, Boat Club, Creche, Club Roto, Groovin, Indigenous, INLV, Lab 54, LoveJuice, Modern Funktion, Secret Sessions and WYLD who will all bring their own flavours and add to a diverse, forward-thinking soundtrack across the island.

Mancunian DJ and producer Black Hawks of Panama delivers a club-ready scorcher featuring a collaboration with singer-songwriter Bisi and a remix from long-running affiliate of the Hot Creations crew, Sidney Charles. The storied artist stitches an old-skool feel across the release, with Sidney leaving a modern take on his remix. 

Black Hawks of Panama, aka Danny Whitehead, explains his process behind the EP. “I hadn’t had my new Moog synth too long, and after tweaking a little, I got the bassline going and the track built itself from there. Bisi and I had been talking about making a banger…” he says before Bisi continues, “‘Nobody But You’ has been one hell of a ride. When Danny sent over the instrumental, I loved the vibe he had right off the bat. I booked a flight, wrote the lyrics on the plane and when we got into the studio, it was musical synergy, from the first chord to the last vocal.” 

Nobody But You presents itself with an eighties style, robust kickdrums and a vintage-sounding synthline. An instant groover. “We have been working together for a few years now, and we bonded over our love of artists like Patti Labelle, Prince and 80s/New Wave and Chicago House” Danny says, elaborating on his work with Bisi. The listener can hear these influences on Sidney Charles’ remix of the track, who retains the old-skool vibe whilst adding his own contemporary twist with pitched-down vocals, snappy percussion and an infectious melody. Closing track We Will Not offers a peak-time mood, packed with punchy drums, ascending keys and the phattest of basslines. It shows the artist’s versatility, who sums up his alias in his own words. “It’s been a real journey since starting Black Hawks, but it’s satisfying developing your own sound, and good to know there’s lots more to come in 2023!” 

Coming from parents who were promoters and DJs on the Manchester scene in the 70s, it was only natural for Danny Whitehead aka Black Hawks of Panama to pursue music. Having cut his teeth DJing on the White Isle, the project is Danny’s outlet for producing house music with flavours of northern soul, disco, deep house and the genre’s roots in Chicago and New York. With a story-telling approach in the studio, he has released on Midnight Riot, King Street Sounds and more. Having starred in the West End, toured America with The Blues Brothers and fronted the show as Mistress of Ceremonies, Bisi weaves her stage and life experience into both her performance and songwriting, leaving an air of mystery and depth to her musical style. A DJ, producer and label boss at the top of his game, Sidney Charles’ rich catalogue boasts recent releases via the likes of No Art, Locus, PIV, Do Not Sleep, Eastenderz, with his own Heavy House Society imprint welcoming material via the likes of Djebali, Okain, Sakro, Tripmastaz and Locklead to name just a few.

The Epic Pool Parties just got a bit more epic for this year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami with the news that DESERT HEARTS will be hosting their own gatherings, and that the likes of Chris Stussy, Luigi Madonna, Rich NXT, Skream, Sidney Charles, Detlef, Huxley, Mason Collective, Mason Maynard, MK, Richy Ahmed and more have been announced for AMNESIA PRESENTS X DO NOT SLEEP and REPOPULATE MARS parties.

The sizzling six days of events kick off the 2020 Winter Music Conference in Miami on Tuesday, March 17th for the Official WMC OPENING PARTY with the legendary Kings of House, aka Louie Vega and David Morales, and run until Sunday, March 22nd. Downtown Miami’s Kimpton EPIC Hotel is the location for the musical madness and views of the Biscayne Bay and the stunning Downtown Miami backdrop. The pool deck itself is on the 16th floor amongst lush palm trees, bars and cabanas making it an exclusive setting hosting a world-class sound system.

On Wednesday March 18th, Amnesia team up with underground house party Do Not Sleep, who have been at the sharp edge of the scene for years and have a global following. The full line up is now revealed to include very special guest and notorious party starter Skream, Ibiza favourites Ilario Alicante and Amnesia resident Mar-T, techno titan Luigi Madonna, FUSE associate Rich NXT, house mainstay Chris Stussy and Heavy House Society label boss Sidney Charles.

Friday March 20th is Lee Foss’s red hot Repopulate Mars label party with the boss himself plus long time New York house icon MK, who runs his own Area10 brand and has been a pioneer in the scene since the 90s. His work with labels like Hot Creations and Defected has kept him in the headlines and never far from the world’s finest parties. Key tech house talents like Greek star Detlef and Prok | Fitch, DJ extraordinaire Richy Ahmed, non-stop underground hit maker Huxley, break out UK innovator Latmun, the fast rising, hard hitting Manchester crew Mason Collective, plus DJ Award for Best Newcomer Mason Maynard, Martin Ikin, Ben Sterling and many more also play.

On Saturday March 21st, the colourful Desert Hearts will bring their own particular brand of party love to the Epic series. What started as an intimate renegade gathering in the Mojave Desert has since blossomed into a multiple Desert Hearts Festivals and traveling City Hearts Tour events that also picked up DJ Mag’s ‘Best of North America’ title in the Boutique Festival category in 2018. Artists playing include Mikey Lion, Marbs, Lee Reynolds and Porky who will join special guests and full line up. Part boutique festival, part record label, and part globetrotting party brigade, this ragtag crew of dreamers has emerged as a vibe-focused force radiating a conscious ethos of house, techno and love always with world-class bookings and a renegade vision that stands them apart. Big things are happening at Do Not Sleep HQ. With 2020 on the horizon, Ibiza’s favourite straight-through-crew are cooking up big plans that will see the brand joining forces with Thick As Thieves to take the party quite literally to the other side of the world for their first tour of Australia and New Zealand, and kicking off what will be their biggest year yet in the process.

Do Not Sleep has long been a bastion of quality underground music with clubbers and despite having toured extensively across Europe and South America, February 2020 will be the first time that the brand has set foot down under. In true Do Not Sleep style, they’re using this opportunity to make a statement and heading there with a heavyweight crew in tow with Darius Syrossian, Josh Butler and Sidney Charles repping the brand at each of the five dates through Sydney, Wollongong, Queenstown, Christchurch and Melbourne.

The tour announcement kicks off a big presence for Do Not Sleep throughout 2020, the team recently announced another debut in the shape of a profile show at Manchester’s iconic Albert Hall in March featuring Pan Pot, Darius Syrossian, Sidney Charles, East End Dubs and Luuk Van Dijk. There’s still plenty more to be announced by Do Not Sleep, but one thing’s for sure – it all kicks off February 1^st in Sydney and doesn’t let up from there. Prominent house artist Sidney Charles is stepping out with his own brand new label Heavy House Society. Launching with a standout first EP from Barem on both digital and hand-stamped white label vinyl, it will be a place to hear the sort of chunky, club focussed grooves that have made Sidney such a unique talent.

Sidney Charles is known for his rough, dirty, no nonsense sounds. They have come on key labels like Truesoul, Hot Creations and Saved and always have irresistible bottom ends and infectious, hard hitting rhythms. This new label will continue in that fine tradition and deal in the sort of physical grooves and high energy sounds that make any dance floor sweat.

The German tastemaker has a history of A&Ring that dates back through his career, and he will bring that experience to this exciting new label. Says Sidney, “I’m launching the label as A&Ring has been a huge passion of mine for most of my career. I feel the time is right to evolve my take on the high energy house sound that I love playing out when touring the globe, while also creating a strong collective of like minded friends.”

With a high impact sound that is compelling and original, the label has already signed up Barem, Bodeler and Josh Baker, while Sidney himself will also appear on the label. It all kicks off with Barem, who serves up three propulsive, stripped back house cuts, with Frenchman Djebali adding his own deep remix.

The future will bring a wealth of effective and characterful house music, as well as label showcases further down the line. The Heavy House Society, then, is now open for business.

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead who’s legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

A German living in Portugal, the new Intec release is from Sidney Charles who has only been releasing music since 2011, but in that time built up a back catalogue including music signed to Truesoul, Moon Harbour, Hot Creations, Relief, 8Bit and Defected.

Sidney Charles eclectic sound is often focused towards house music, but as a skilled producer, he also incorporated elements of techno when he wants to toughen things up a bit, and his new release on Intec is a fine example of this.

Having originally started his career as a DJ, Sidney Charles is also a highly sought after club spinner, with a gig list that in the coming months will see him play everywhere from the Netherlands to Malta.

This is Sidney’s second solo release on Intec having last appeared on the label in 2016, and fans will be pleased to know his follow up has been well worth the wait.

The EP opens with the original mix of “Get Together” that at first sounds like a house groove with a rolling bassline and tight percussion, but its heavy kick drum and looping rhythms along with the deep synth stabs, move it over to the deep techno category. The perfect crossover tool, its moody sound and low end energy will no doubt make it a popular DJ’s choice for switching up the style of a set.

Second on the release is “Dub Trap”, which takes us down a deeper path with jazzy chords that add to the jacking groove. Where the first track incorporates elements of techno, this track is very much the sound Sidney Charles is known for. Chic and full of character, this tech house cut is something that some might not expect from Intec, but reminds us of Carl Cox’s eclectic taste when it comes to playing and signing music.
