The dance-oriented original mixes from the Edinburgh-based Brazilian producer are here to be listened to

SODREE is a Brazilian artist who has been growing in the European circuit. The young DJ and producer moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, and took with him the impetus to develop his career around the vibrant grooves of House Music. His style of Tech House mixes some of the genre’s optimism with jazzy and soulful elements, often straying into Minimal/Deep Tech territory.

After a sequence of releases that included labels like Whoyostro, LouLou Records, Space and Distance Music, it’s time for the artist to land on Space Invaders with the EP “Moving On“. The tracks bring a bit of the summer feeling that takes place in his home country and the dancing spirit that Tech House traditionally imprints on dance floors.

In addition to this effervescent EP, SODREE has also recently been featured on the “Rebels – Rogue Selecion 02” compilation by the Lisbon, Portugal label Plastik Galaxy. The track “My Love” contains the thumping quality of Tech in its groove, but follows a romantic vocal for the warm hearts on the dance floor. Listen:

“Destination” arrived on the platforms on December 16th through Sonido Profundo. Listen!

By Nicolle Prado

For fans of Deep and Organic House we bring a nice Christmas present, directly from the south of Brazil, which already comes with a quality certificate, after all, it is not the first time we see these two reference names of the Brazilian electronic scene collaborating and delivering electrifying productions. The union in question is the partnership of GRIFE, duo formed by Daniel Grimm and Diego Feder, with Albuquerque, who has just released the EP “Destination”, by Sonido Profundo, being the third work of the year made together.

For this release, the artists brought that synergy already known in their previous compositions, which mix energetic beats with introspective piano lines, to guide us through a journey between sensations and deep feelings. In the two original tracks, the sonority wanders through the bases of Deep and Organic House, building a soft melody, but that through subtle elements gains vibrations, as in the title track, which works intimate vocals. Or in the intense “The Things We’re Made Of”, which explores an ethereal climate with its shimmering synths.

The result is already available, since Friday (16th), and you can check it out below:

From the structure to the curation, the house is known for its excellence in all aspects

By Nicolle Prado

It’s been almost 20 years of history in the Brazilian electronic scene, and with each passing year, D-Edge consolidates itself even more for its excellence and relevance in the growth of Dance Music in the country. When the club was created, still in Mato Grosso do Sul, it can be said that the electronic movement was still in its early stages, and that it only took impulse to the point of becoming solid and strong as it is today thanks to the work of the club, now established in São Paulo.

Renato Ratier, the name behind the creation of D-Edge, is a visionary artist and entrepreneur, who is always looking to reinvent himself in all areas. It’s no wonder that in this long trajectory, the clubs has remained not only as the main reference in the national scene, but one of the biggest in the world when it comes to electronic music. Artists from all four corners of the planet dream of playing in its illuminated dance floors and clubbers from the most different countries land in São Paulo to live the unique experience that the house provides.

If you’re a fan of Dance Music and will be in Brazil soon, there’s no way you’re not considering a night out at D-Edge. But if you’re still not convinced, we present you with five reasons that will make you put the club on your schedule:

Structure

When it comes to structure, D-Edge has always stood out for being revolutionary. The house has a unique design and lighting system, designed by Muti Randolph and the architecture office Triptyque, which became a reference for clubs around the world. Being one of the first to use led on a large scale, this visual identity was so ahead of its time that even today it stands out for being modern and contemporary.

The whole aesthetic vibrates music, art, and technology, which are the pillars of the concept on which the house was built. So when you are there, expect a complete cultural and musical experience.

Latest Generation

Imagine being surrounded by sounds from all sides, absorbing every last detail of the vibrations emanating from the songs in a powerful set. This is possible at D-Edge. The venue’s acoustics are impressive and the soundsystem is powerful and of extreme quality, worked by state-of-the-art sound equipment, developed by KW Audio especially for the house.

Special agenda

The São Paulo house is definitely for all types and tastes. With a well thought out and wide-ranging program, there is no lack of variety in musical styles at D-Edge nights. Thursdays already warm up for the weekend with the classic Moving, which in 17 years has presented unforgettable performances by Afterlife, Phonique, Ryan Elliott and others.

On Fridays, Freak Chic breaks away from the usual and promotes ecstatic nights, combining sounds and mixing concepts in order to create something new and unique. A synergic party made of contrasts. On Saturdays, we have Nave, an event that transports the public through styles, decades, genres, and even cities, all through performances by great names of the world scene.

And that’s not all, there is still the Superafter, dedicated to those who, when the subject is electronic music, there is no time limit, or border that cannot be crossed. After all, what matters is to have fun and live new experiences on the dance floor. And there is still a party for those who are fans of good old Rock’n’Roll. Keep Rock brings the best of Classic Rock. Indie, Pop80s, Garage, Old School and more.

Music quality

From Techno to Rock, regardless of the style that will guide the night, D-Edge is synonym of musical quality. The curatorship of the house is one of the most refined in the world and never disappoints, always keeping its commitment to promote a high standard event. Besides, the line-ups are always surprising, both for presenting the most important DJs of today, and for opening space for young talents to show their potential. You can trust with your eyes closed that there is no lack of good music there.

A unique experience

D-Edge delivers not “just” quality electronic music, but a true clubber experience. From the first steps at the entrance, it is already possible to feel an overwhelming energy, with a diverse audience at the door vibrating their love for the music. And as you step inside this spaceship, the intensity is even greater, with smiles on their faces and people involved in the atmosphere partying carefree.

The club embraces its public, without distinction or prejudice, sharing mutual respect to create special moments with the D-Edgers, who find there a refuge to live each feeling that emanates through the music.

Release shows a delicious Bass House with a very cool vocal from 2STRANGE

by Mia Lunis

“Go Low” , the new single from the master Illusionize in collaboration with Visage, via Elevation Records, makes us embark on a sophisticated cocktail that mixes elements of Deep and Bass House. Deep has a strong characteristic in depth that tends to translate more introspective beats, while talking to a more open house line that brings a resolution of a deeper experience with the track. House elucidates, makes you want to go beyond and follow more traditional lines, while we still have vocals that guide listeners on this journey from the inside out that Deep and House can bring.

Leaving the obvious patterns of using elements aside, the producers deliver an amazing Bass House with a very cool vocal from 2STRANGE that guides the listener to surrender to the denser lines of Deep. In “Go Low”, we practically have the formation of a new sub-strand that talks to all spheres of e-music. Illusionize and Visage, are friends and fellow countrymen, in this production the artists import tones of Brazilianness with a striking groove that invites the floor to dance and have fun. It is worth the play.

The track features dreamy vocals signed by French artist Noemie, who has previously collaborated with Agoria

Jessica Brankka‘s fast development in the electronic music scene has brought her a desired artistic resume. In recent times, the São Paulo-based DJ and producer has been rocking major dance floors across the country with a packed schedule, from Warung Beach Club to Flying Circus. The last few months have also been filled with positive feedback from the public about the EP she released in 2021 with iconic Afro House artist Floyd Lavine, which included remixes by Stereo MC’s, Baris K, Alma Negra, and Uriah Klapter.

One year after “Lampião“, in good timing for another release, Jessica Brankka presents “Too Many Roads“, her new single in radio and extended versions. Another important addition to this occasion: the vocals of Noemie, artist known in France for tracks like “Otage” and “Blabla”, as well as her famous collaboration with Agoria on the track “Remedy“.

The concept of “Too Many Roads” lives up to the cover of the release, a lighthouse and a horizon. Jessica gives the track’s arrangements an emotional appeal to reflect her moment of many possibilities amidst her intense artistic journey. Melodic elements blend carefully into an apotheotic progression, gaining full force from Noemie, who brings a daydreaming aura to the single in her sensitive voice.

The project curates avant-garde producers with a predilection for different cultural aspects

7 years ago Brazil saw the birth of a label that would become a reference in organic electronic music. Featuring several artists, including Downtempo, Electronica, Experimental and Organic House, and always fueled by many nomadic references, Tropical Twista Records has promoted more than 80 releases since then.

Palmer has been leading the label since its beginning — now alongside Tha_guts in the partners team. Palmer is a DJ and producer who deeply understands Latin America’s cultural vastness and the potential to discover talents who think outside the box, whether in the studio or in the DJ booth. Despite this fact, Tropical Twista has largely connected with the international scene, including releases by artists from Portugal, France, Scotland, Germany, among others.

With an unconventional approach, Tropical Twista goes beyond the traditional molds and boundaries of Organic House and Downtempo; their musical universe is able to show a prolific eclecticism, with the diversity of an artistic group such as Forró Red Light, Tha_guts, Ibu Selva, Kika Deeke, Palma Dulce, Urubu Marinka, Shigara and Xique-Xique, who were feature on the label’s latest b-day compilation.

As examples of Tropical Twista’s insightful research, there is the remix compilation for the group Embatucadores, which creates percussiveness from scrap metal and features tracks from the likes of Kurup, Chancha Via Circuito and Evehive. Algo, a single by Afterclapp in homage to the baião, a music and dance movement specific to Brazil’s Northeast region.

Through such enriching quality of Tropical Twista to solidly propose creative musical partnerships, curated by a unique respect for the countless possibilities of cultural fusion with dance music, this label becomes a refuge for curious minds and ethnic electronic music enthusiasts.

By Louise Lamin

For the lovers of Tech House, the tip is to take a look at the new generation of Brazilian producers who are emerging on the scene out there. With fresh, innovative and irreverent sounds, young talents have easily become exponent by conquering the support of names already established in the country and abroad such as Vintage Culture, Kyle Watson, Shiba San, Illusionize and Victor Lou. Among these outstanding names is Eduardo Casiraghi, who under the nickname Sterium is already conquering dance floors all over Brazil.

His sound signature is marked by unique arrangements, which feature the contagious percussive elements of House Music among the unmistakable power of Tech House. All of this in an authentic and versatile way – like in tracks like “Matrix Bug” and his newest single, “Chica“.

To get to know more about the multifacets of this talent, we invited him for an exclusive interview. Check it out!

Hello, Sterium! Welcome to Music Is 4 Lovers, it’s a pleasure to meet you. From where are you speaking at this very moment?

Well, at this very moment I’m at home, resting from the last tour that happened in Goiânia. By the way, I missed playing there. I feel very welcome!

Well, since it’s your first time here, can you start by telling us a little bit about how you started being involved with music and how the Sterium music project came about?

I think Sterium was just the name I gave to my life with music. I always felt involved, and I knew from the beginning of my childhood that this would be my purpose. My father was a musician and taught me to value music and its details, and the starting point was when a DJ let me stand next to him at my family’s wedding party, it was magical for me.

Still on the topic of music production. What inspires you the most when you create your tracks?

What inspires me maybe is the happiness it brings me. Sometimes making music frees me from a lot of things, it seems like the world around me stops in time. I think everybody needs something that makes you escape from the real world! I think it’s more about feelings than work.

There is a track of yours, released last year, that just hit over 1 million streams on Spotify. Congratulations on the achievement! Tell us a little bit about this track and why you think it was such a hit:

I think it got that way because it was a song we made without thinking “this is going to be a hit”.

I think that’s what it was all about, doing what you’re feeling. People like to hear that. And of course, the boom that my brother Mochakk made in the scene pushed the music forward, but this also happened by experience and not by ambition, just like our music was made. All of this I think happened because we are true to our art. I want more of that for my music.

And there is also a release! You just released the track “Chica”, right? Tell us a bit about it…

That song is old, I made it in the mid of 2019.  For some reason I left it sitting in a drawer and found it a few months ago, so I thought “I’m going to release it”. I started playing it in my sets and it was really good. And that made me give even more value to it, because I think it sounds absurd, and because it’s old it motivates me for the next ones.

From what we are seeing, you have been living a moment of many high points in your career, haven’t you? Tell us a bit about the highlights of this year!

I feel fulfilled! It has been a long time thinking about the best way to show my music.

I believe that me and my manager Doug are reaching achievements that I thought would take a long time to happen, it’s all very fast. I will always thank him for this mentorship.

But the best part of it for me is that I’m building something solid and grounded, you know? This year I played in places like Só Track Boa, Playground, and venues like Caos and El Fortin. Releasing independent music, showing our truth.

You have a full schedule of gigs in the next months, in several states in Brazil. Tell us about the places you’ve most enjoyed playing so far and the ones you haven’t played yet and dream of performing – in and outside the country:

My dream was to play at El Fortin, I am very happy to have the friendship and trust of the people there. At my last performance I recorded a set, I will release it later this year.

And my dream is to play at a big festival like Lollapalooza. It’s going to happen, and I’m already telling you that I’m going to take my whole family with me!

Besides these places where you want to perform, what other big dreams do you have for your career that you intend to fulfill in the next years?

I think it’s traveling, getting to know all over Brazil with my music, and also other countries. I love to meet new people and cultures.

To finish, what can we expect from Sterium for the next months?

I am starting to record my sets more, so you can expect this from me, in case you can’t witness it live. And of course, lots of new music!

He just released his latest album, Scream, with Alex Dittrich’s remix

by Mia Lunis

Since 2018, Jorge Mattos has been one of the names to be remembered by the electronic scene in São Paulo. With great references on House, the producer is making his sound reach an atmosphere with nostalgia and a lot of harmony with the current moment. Highlighting the new Minimal Deep Tech, Jorge is showering the listeners with his beautiful grooves filled with new sounds and outstandings vocals reaching labels such as Otherwise, DubNation, Namata Records and now with his new EP “Scream” on Tamboa Rec

Presenting a contrast that proves that Jorge Mattos is a multifaceted artist, the EP Scream comes with an unlabeled atmosfere, uniting a huge background by putting together elements that shows his ability to bring the dancefloor in unison. The titled track “Scream” is a translation to this feeling, with cool, nostalgic and happy vibes, the producer goes through an ode remarking the 90’s with a vocal that guides us to stay connected while we literally scream putting out our will to keep on dancing. The track also has gained a memorable remix from Alex Dittrich, an artist with deep roots on Minimal that gave the piece a power energy to the Peak Time of big stages.

“Losten” couldn’t be more specific, with a marked groovy bassline and a powerful melody, the artist translates the sensation of being lost and found while you´re at the same space. It’s about a mind traveling and specially it’s about the connection you have with your body. Jorge explores his new transition with arrangements and innovates in the use of chords that allow an immersion on the dancefloor atmosphere with his compositions.
