Eutopia Warehouse: East London’s New 4000-Capacity Music, Arts & Cultural Destination https://www.musicis4lovers.com/eutopia-warehouse-east-londons-new-4000-capacity-music-arts-cultural-destination/ Tue, 21 Oct 2025 13:49:36 +0000 https://www.musicis4lovers.com/?p=125189 Eutopia Warehouse: East London’s New 4000-Capacity Music, Arts & Cultural Destination]]>
Eutopia fully awakens this Halloween – transforming its interconnected warehouses and canal-side courtyard into a living, breathing cultural playground.

East London’s famous nocturnal landscape is set for transformation with the arrival of Eutopia – a bold new 4,000-capacity indoor–outdoor music, arts and cultural space set across three interlinked warehouses and a sprawling open-air courtyard on the River Roding in Barking.

Following a £1.5 million reimagining of a former industrial site, Eutopia blends raw architectural heritage with contemporary design and world-class d&b Audiotechnik sound systems. A series of soft launch test events have already taken place at the site which is now fully operational. The result is a multi-dimensional venue built for exploration – where music, art and community collide under one roof and out into the open air.

Designed as a flexible, future-facing hub for the next generation of London’s cultural landscape, Eutopia will host everything from large-scale live shows, club events and festivals to exhibitions and local community events – each experience shaped by high-spec production, immersive design, and a community-first ethos.

Eutopia has already enlisted some of the most respected names in UK and international music culture. Promoters confirmed for the first wave of programming include; 51st State Festival, AEG, Appetite, Back to 95 (25th Anniversary), Breakin Science, Centerforce, Dance On Arrival, HOWL, Moon Dance, Recess, Sankeys, Space Ibiza, World Dance and Zulu Nation, spanning everything from minimal and house to bass, Afro, amapiano and beyond.

Eutopia is multi-dimensional venue consisting of four large-scale arenas;
 • The Yard (1700 capacity) sits by the river – an open-air playground of sound, light and energy. With full staging, a bespoke pergola installation, raised dance platforms and elevated viewing areas, it’s designed for both intimacy and impact. Lined with seasonal foliage, art installations and street food traders, The Yard brings festival-scale atmosphere to a permanent East London setting. From sunlit afternoons to high-energy nights, The Yard is a place to explore, eat, dance and get lost. Inside, three unique warehouses each offer a distinct experience and capacity.
 • WHS 1 (800 capacity) – An immersive, tunnel-like room inspired by the golden age of New York club culture and London’s underground heritage. Precision-tuned d&b Audiotechnik sound, raised dance platforms and bespoke lighting make it the heartbeat of Eutopia.
 • WHS 2 (1,200 capacity) – A vast, reconfigurable space built for scale and versatility. With both 360° and end-stage formats, it’s designed for club nights, live concerts, brand launches and large-scale cultural events.
 • WHS 3 (800 capacity) – The most intimate and design-led of the trio, this warehouse will host curated performances, exhibitions and social gatherings. The next phase of development will see WHS 3 evolve into a cocktail bar and listening space, hosting listening sessions, label launches and community-focused culture and lifestyle events.

Eutopia is led by a powerhouse team with more than a century of combined experience across music, events and culture:

 • Michael Hughes – A pioneering figure in UK club culture and radio, founder of landmark events Garage City, Back to 95 and Groove Odyssey, and a long-standing advocate for authentic house music.
 • Nikki Gordon – Co-founder of We Are FSTVL and former Head of Ministry of Sound, bringing almost three decades of creative and operational leadership.
 • Will Paterson – Veteran promoter behind over 20 festivals and 11 London venues, known for his work in artist development, large-scale events and mentoring future talent.
 • Tom Ranger – Acclaimed curator and programmer behind Dreamland Margate, Oval Space, Annabel’s, Percolate Live and Live Nation’s Soundcrash division, now consulting and programming events globally through Something Goes Right.

Combining world-class production with a community-first vision, Eutopia is set to redefine large-scale venues in London – a creative sanctuary built from the bones of East London’s industrial past, looking firmly to the future. Eutopia opens fully from Halloween 2025.

From Punk Rebel to Dance Music Power Player – Stevie Hulme’s Vainglorious: A Punk In The House Is An Explosive Club Culture Memoir https://www.musicis4lovers.com/from-punk-rebel-to-dance-music-power-player-stevie-hulmes-vainglorious-a-punk-in-the-house-is-an-explosive-club-culture-memoir/ Tue, 21 Oct 2025 12:16:41 +0000 https://www.musicis4lovers.com/?p=125184

Pacha Ibiza Director, Stevie Hulme, recounts a life at the heart of global dance music

From putting on some of the UK’s first superstar DJ line ups to managing the biggest House label in the world, Stevie Hulme, better known as Stevie Vayne, has shaped the sound of modern House music like few others. In his blistering new memoir, Vainglorious: A Punk In The House (Armley Press), Hulme charts his journey from punk beginnings to running one of the world’s most influential dance music labels and directing global club nights at Pacha Ibiza for more than a decade.

The book dives deep into the golden era of House music, from his time at New York’s legendary Subliminal Records alongside Erick Morillo, to signing iconic tracks such as D:Ream’s Things Can Only Get Better, which became both a chart-topping hit and a UK election anthem. Along the way, Hulme brokered deals that shaped pop culture, including licensing Reel 2 Real’s I Like To Move It for the Hollywood blockbuster Madagascar, and worked with the likes of, Shakira, Matt Goss, So Solid Crew and superstar DJs across the globe.

From Leeds to Ibiza

Hulme’s memoir reveals the evolution of a true dance music tastemaker. After establishing his credentials in the punk scene, he transitioned: first making his mark in the UK where he promoted the first live gig on the Prodigy’s Jilted Generation Tour and then global club scene, curating line-ups, producing events and defining the soundtracks of summers in Ibiza and dance music hotspots across the world. For over a decade at Pacha, he influenced global dance music, shaped international careers including The Swedish House Mafia and helped cement Ibiza as the epicenter of global nightlife.

“Dance music taught me that creativity and grit are everything,” Hulme says. “From signing records to selling out clubs and compilations, it’s all about taking control and making things happen yourself.”

Part Memoir, Part Dance Music Masterclass

Vainglorious is packed with high-energy stories, behind-the-scenes drama, and insider insight. Hulme shares how he built a career without waiting for permission, offering practical advice for aspiring DJs, producers and club entrepreneurs:

Step One – Start A Band
Step Two – Play Local Gigs
Step Three – Start A Label
Step Four – Release Music
Step Five – Go On Tour
Step Six – Live It To The Max
Step Seven – REPEAT AND AMPLIFY

From Studio to Superclub

The memoir is a journey across decades of dance music history – from the backrooms of Leeds to endless Ibiza nights, superstar DJs and signing records that defined a generation of clubbers. Hulme’s message is clear: whether you’re behind a DJ deck or negotiating record deals, you make your own path – and leave your mark on music history.

DJ and producer duo Sparrow & Barbossa bring their innovative Caribbean House sound to CircoLoco Records with their latest single, ‘Float’, featuring Brooklyn-based R&B vocalist BAYLI.

The track made its live debut at this year’s Coachella Festival, where BAYLI joined the duo on stage for a standout performance in the packed-out Yuma tent—marking Sparrow & Barbossa’s first-ever appearance at the legendary California festival.

With intimate and weightless vocals from rising R&B star BAYLI, ‘Float’ shines a spotlight on Sparrow & Barbossa’s signature syncopated Caribbean House style, offering a taste of their eagerly awaited upcoming EP.

Sparrow & Barbossa is the collaborative project of Swiss DJ/producer Bryan Coletta and Uruguayan DJ/producer Emiliano Haberli. Since their early collaborations in Madrid, the duo has built a unique sound rooted in piano, tribal percussion, and a fusion of organic and electronic textures.

The son of jazz legend Francis Coletta, Bryan brings a deep musicality and creative edge to the partnership, while Emiliano—formerly a resident DJ at Space Ibiza—adds his expertise as a classically trained percussionist. Together, they’ve emerged as one of the most versatile and prolific acts in global dance music, with multiple Beatport #1s and an eclectic discography that crosses genres, languages, and borders.

Following years of high-profile collaborations with the likes of Sia, Rampa, Deadmau5, Jamie Jones, and PJ Sin Suela, the pair are entering a bold new phase in 2025. After their landmark debut at Coachella, they’re slated to perform at Circoloco Ibiza, Shellona in Saint Tropez, III Points in Miami, and Tomorrowland Belgium in October, along with other iconic stages worldwide.

‘Float’ by Sparrow & Barbossa, featuring BAYLI, is out now via CircoLoco Records.

An idea formed on a New York dancefloor, this classic-sounding house track relays Archie’s deep love for the roots of a genre he pioneers today

Revered DJ, producer and MicroHertz label founder Archie Hamilton hammers home a message of unity on his Three Six Zero debut, ‘A Place We Can Be Free’. With sleek, elegant house grooves, a labyrinth of floaty, hypnotic synths and a classic-sounding bassline, riding over a spicy shuffling drum break, the new single lands on Friday, 9th May.

The collaboration started when Archie was DJing in New York and played the acapella of Lil’ Louis & The World’s ‘Club Lonely’, in that moment turning to long-time friend Ian Orr (founder of New York party, Vigilante), asking if he thought he could pull off an original spoken word piece for a classic sounding house record. They spoke the next day to get the collaboration going, and ‘A Place We Can Be Free’ is the gleaming result.

Ian’s lyrics celebrate house music as more than just a genre. It’s a unifying force and a safe space for freedom, self-expression, and community. Saying “house music will forever be a place of unity”, Archie and Ian highlight the dancefloor as a place where people from all walks of life can come together, and find peace through music.

The launch of the single lands just in time for Archie Hamilton’s massively anticipated MicroHertz label takeover at 93 Feet East in his hometown of London on Sunday, 18th May (Buy tickets here). It’s a significant return to the venue, where Archie spent many a Sunday as a raver, and later as a highly-respected resident DJ at the iconic FUSE parties.

Over the past decade, Archie has risen through the ranks to become one of the most respected figures in house and techno. A key player in shaping the new wave of European minimal, he’s carved out a distinct sound built on classic samples, rugged basslines, ethereal atmospherics, and groove-driven precision. His music has made a lasting impact on dancefloors around the world, earning him regular slots at genre-leading festivals like Romania’s Sunwaves.

In 2024, Archie had another huge season on the White Isle, toured his MicroHertz events across Europe with the biggest names in house music, and played a FUSE party for the first time in ten years, played with Villalobos, soundtracked the pre-match party at SSC Napoli’s Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in October, and closed the Paradise takeover at Club Space in Miami.

So far in 2025, Archie has kept the pace. He released The Rhythm EP on DJ Tennis’s Life & Death Records, featuring the breakout track ‘Blow My Mind,’ and headlined the PIV Records showcase at Miami Music Week in March. With more big moments on the horizon, including gigs at the UNRVS club in Ibiza and in Australia in June, Archie’s grip on the house scene is only getting stronger.

Archie Hamilton’s new single ‘A Place We Can Be Free’, featuring the powerful words of Ian Orr, is out on 9th May via Three Six Zero Recordings.

Chicago-born DJ and producer J. Worra has released her latest single, ‘Crushin’’, featuring rising singer-songwriter Benni Ola, out now via Three Six Zero Recordings.

A summer anthem in waiting, ‘Crushin’’ captures the dizzying rush of infatuation—breaking your own rules, feeling the intensity in your chest, and spiraling into obsession. Featuring a killer vocal hook from Benni Ola—who’s previously worked with Channel Tres and TOKiMONSTA—the track expands on J. Worra’s signature blend of classic Chicago house and sleek, techy dance production.

Benni Ola’s husky, emotive vocals float over shimmering piano lines, crisp house beats, and a pulsing bassline accented by laser-like synth stabs, adding to the track’s hypnotic energy.

“The second I heard Benni’s vocals, I was hooked,” says J. Worra, aka Jamie Sitter. “It reminded me of records I fell in love with back in the early 2010s. I loved making this one, and I hope listeners feel the same wave of nostalgia I did when writing it.”

The single follows J. Worra’s buzzworthy appearance at Coachella on Saturday, April 12, where she delivered multiple sets and helped launch the all-female DJ supergroup Blood Oath on the DoLab stage, alongside Sara Landry, Indira Paganotto, Amelie Lens, VNSSA, Mary Droppinz, Coco & Breezy, Jenna Shaw, and Bad Girl Bailey—a standout moment in the LA-based festival’s history.

A native of Chicago and now based in Denver, J. Worra continues to make major waves across the global electronic scene with her bold productions and club-shaking sets. Known for her originality and technical skill, she’s released on tastemaker labels like Higher Ground, Realm, Club Sweat, and Sweat It Out—home to her 135M+ streaming hit ‘Check Out’.

Named DJ Mag’s Breakthrough Producer of 2019, she’s remixed heavyweights such as GRiZ, Kaskade, Gorgon City, and deadmau5, and played landmark festivals including EDC, Splash House, Dirtybird Campout, and Coachella.

Self-taught since 2010, J. Worra’s journey has taken her from garage-sale gear to festival stages and a global touring schedule. With new releases and live dates on the horizon, she remains one of the underground scene’s most authentic and exciting forces.

‘Crushin’’ by J. Worra ft. Benni Ola is out today, May 2, via Three Six Zero Recordings.

Newcastle-raised talented vocalist and vocal coach Mizbee has made her mark in the house music scene with vocals featured on tracks via the likes of Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations, Hottrax, and Darius Syrossian’s MOXY MUZIK. Today, we sit down with her to discuss her creative process, musical inspirations, and her latest collaboration with JhoJho, ‘Horny’, out now on Hot Creations.

Hi Mizbee, thanks for joining us today! How are you?
I’m good, thank you, hope you’re too!

Who were your musical inspirations growing up?
I taught myself how to sing through listening to Mariah Carey. I used to also listen to Whitney, Mary J Blige & Amy Winehouse.

Congrats on the release of ‘Horny’ alongside Jhojho! How was the creative process working with him, and what led to this collaboration?
The collaboration process was fun. It’s a classic vocal, and after I’d finished the resing, it brought me back to the first time I heard it, as I remember when the original first came out. Jhojho was a breeze to work with! He made it all feel really easy and was very professional and kind.

What would be the perfect setting to listen to ‘Horny’?
The Dance floor, preferably at a Paradise party!

You’ve lent your vocals to tracks by Prok & Fitch, Nathan Barato, Mat.Joe, and many more. How do you stay true to your own artistic vision while adapting to different styles and sounds in these collaborations?
This is a good question! I think that it helps that I’m into a real mix of genres, so I can adapt to any beat. Another thing I try to keep in featured work is my ‘Mizbee’ adlibs so that producers/people know that’s my style.

Who are some producers you would like to work with in the future?
I’d love to work with Jamie! And Shonky, Cinthie & Dennis Ferrer.

How do sound healing sessions differ from other types of healing practices in terms of their impact on you and your clients?
I don’t teach sound healing, but I am a sound therapist who delivers sessions to groups and individuals. Sound healing works by emitting frequencies and vibrations through the instruments I use, allowing them to absorb deeply into the person’s body. Sound healing can help restore balance to our emotions by releasing “blocked” energy from subtle energy channels. It’s a magical process, and I love holding space and seeing the effects it has – we’re all lovers of music, and I think that’s why it works so well and differs from other healing practices.

What were some of the main challenges in your development as a singer/vocalist?
Probably being ghosted, especially after spending time and energy on a project. It can be very frustrating, especially when it could be the second or third visit to finish their track and to be told they aren’t into it anymore.

What advice would you give to emerging female vocalists navigating the music industry?
Make sure you agree everything on email before you start a project. Start only with an idea first so that there is room for development (this can save a time and energy) and try not to get disheartened if things don’t work out, it’s only creating space for what is meant to be.

Emotive Electronic Dance Music: Sound On Tape Unveils his Debut EP ‘Digits’.

Cleveland’s Sound On Tape emerges with ‘Digits,’ a debut EP that deftly navigates the intersections of Garage, Electro, and Jazz. Drawing from the sonic palettes of El-B, Burial, Mr. Fingers, Kraftwerk, and Sticky, alongside the improvisational spirit of Bill Evans and John Coltrane, Sound On Tape crafts a sound both familiar and refreshingly distinct.

Released via 904L World Class Sound, ‘Digits’ positions Sound On Tape as an artist of striking talent and sensitivity, creating soulful, atmospheric cuts that stand out from the crowd.

With Digits landing this week, we asked him to pick out 10 tracks from artist that continue to inspire his own work to this day.

Pastor T.L. Barrett – Wonderful

Pastor T.L. Barrett is one of the few gospel artists I can truly connect with. This is my favorite song of his and one of my favorite gospel songs of all time. I can almost smell the church pews while listening to this.

Paul Hardcastle – Rainforest (12” Version)

From what I’ve gathered, there are three different versions of this record, and this one isn’t on streaming. This version is sonically perfect. A great choice of sounds and a representation of that early ’80s electro sound that really influences me.

Bill Evans – Nardis

My all-time favorite pianist, Bill Evans. “Nardis” is actually a composition by Miles Davis, but it became a staple in Bill’s career. That E Phrygian that Miles slips in instead of the regular E minor adds a real element of wonder to the record. Hearing this piece take on so many forms throughout his career is a real joy—sometimes classy and refined, sometimes thunderous and aggressive. This recorded version is my favorite.

Mr. Fingers – What About This Love (Extended Version)

Larry Heard is a huge influence on my work, and this record perfectly encapsulates everything he brings: a jazz influence, endearing and vulnerable vocal delivery, and super-solid drum programming. This mix still holds up today. It feels like a breeze.

Björk – Undo

Queen Björk. Vespertine as an album and concept is a paramount influence for me. Taking tiny sounds, maximizing them, and stringing them into full songs—it’s genius. It would be a dream to work with her someday.

Roy Davis Jr. and Peven Everett – Gabriel

“Gabriel” was the first time I had heard overt spirituality in dance music. What a groove. The extended chords with a hint of dissonance are lovely.

Sound on Tape – Gods Don’t Die

The birth of Cleveland Bop. More to come.

Cajmere and Dajae – Brighter Days (Underground Goodies Mix ’93)

A perfect record. No chords, just percussion and vocals. It inspires me to go minimal. This is an absolute staple in my sets and something I frequently come back to.

Burial – Etched Headplate

My favorite cut from one of the greatest albums the genre has ever seen. I can feel the London mist when I listen to this record. So much life experience is captured in one place.

El-B – Dusk Till Dawn

El-B is an absolute legend in my book. His dark, minimal approach and drum patterns turned me onto garage and 2-step in the first place. From his work with Groove Chronicles to his solo material, this is one I come back to often.

Welcome back, Mark! How does it feel to return to the music scene after a 4-year hiatus?

Veeeeery cool tbh. It’s been great catching up with people from the industry, and seeing how the scene is at present.

What have you been up to during your time away from the industry?

Not binge drinking haha! I run a couple of successful property business which take up a lot of my time, plus my sons football training has taken over my life, then just working out and enjoying life. Im also a season ticket holder for the mighty clarets (Burnley FC) along with my son Blake.

Can you share with us any details about your plans for the future? Are there any new projects or releases in the pipeline?

TBH i have no idea. I have several requests for shows, remixes, new management etc etc but for now i just want to play this show and see how i feel after it.

What can fans expect from your new music? Any particular styles or influences that have shaped your recent work?

I haven’t opened ableton for over 4 years haha so again, once i see how I feel after this show I may well fire it up again.

You’re set to perform in Spain soon. How excited are you for this gig, and what can the audience look forward to in your set?

Very excited – the anxious, nervous exciting feeling is back which I’ve missed – I love prepping for a set and have dug back in my library for stuff I haven’t listened to or played for years – it was good to find new stuff on Beatport too so theres a mix of it all in the set.

It’s great to have been asked back to Caboo Club in Spain, it’s a really cool place and will be the 3rd time I’ve played there. It’s my second home and I’ve become good pals with Charlie the owner.

Are there any other upcoming shows or festivals that you’re particularly looking forward to?

This is my only show so far, so lets see how it goes.

Will your record label be making a comeback as well? If so, what are your plans for it?

I have thought about it – I liked helping new upcoming stars get their stuff out when sometimes labels don’t listen – I was in that position once! One guy who is flying now is Blackchild, we released one of his tracks 4 years ago which he has thanked us for helping his career progress a few times now. It is a cool track and he is a cool guy. We were very happy to sign him at the time, and its great to see how he is doing now.

What role do you see your label playing in the current electronic music landscape?

I think it will still all be about helping the relatively unknown but gifted artists get their tracks out.

You originally started as a duo. What has been the biggest challenge transitioning to a solo act?

Loneliness with travelling was a killer – I’m about to do it again this Friday but I have plenty of pals in Spain so all good.

How do you think the dynamics of your music and performances have changed since you began performing solo?

I will be honest and say not as good, my brother had a real talent for making music and track selection so its not been the same since.

Looking back at your career, what do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment so far?

1 million + streams on Spotify was cool, I know artists do a lot more but for 2 lads from burnley it was big – also when we got videos of Jamie Jones, Loco Dice, Martinez Brothers etc playing our music was pretty cool. Random inbox off Marco Carola was a good one wanting one of ours tracks. There have been loads tbh.

You’ve gained support from some big names in the industry. How has their support influenced your career?

A lot – someone sees your track being played by a big name can open many doors.

How do you see the electronic music scene evolving in the next few years?

It’s going to be more social media and maybe AI which I don’t think is cool – stick people infront of 2 technics 1200s then lets see who has talent!

Are there any upcoming artists or producers that you think people should keep an eye on?

Will Lewis who is a resident for Egg London is the one for me. He plays with some of the biggest names in the game and has a couple of decent tracks he has made. I’m actually playing b2b with him in spain which will be fun. Also, and he’s not upcoming – AJ Christou, I’ve watched his career from playing in small clubs to literally flying in private jets to sold out venues.

How do you stay inspired and motivated to keep creating music?

I didn’t ha ha but perhaps things will change. I never stopped listening though, I am on Spotify all day every day.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time when you’re not producing or performing?

Working (yes its true haha), watching burnley football club, watching my son play footy and just chilling with my family. Watching my daughter grow is a blessing.

Any words of advice for aspiring producers and DJs looking to make their mark in the industry?

Be different! Ignore bad vibes and keep going! all it takes is one track to change your life.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with your fans as you make your return to the scene?

Nothing as of yet, lets see how the Spain show goes.
